This website is now English by default

What that means, is hegedus.me is now not only available in English, but English is its default language.

English is my second language

I have learned the basics when I was addicted to World of Warcraft in high school and built on what I’ve learned later by watching YouTube videos and TV series in English (this may sound weird to you at first, but in Hungary every movie and TV show is dubbed that gets aired on TV). All those wasted hours spent watching House MD and Friends are paying off now — I guess.

My situation changed

Earlier this year I started working at a British company and using the language on a daily basis gave me the last little push I needed to reorganise my life around the language.

My Magic Keyboard started acting up and since the most I type is in English now, it only makes sense to get a new one in the UK or US layout.

In addition, with feeling more confident, I’d like to shift my online presence as well. I may go to post on Mastodon more in English and I’d like to reach a broader audience with my website. Hence the new default language.

I’m not going to cross-translate posts in different languages. They are for different audiences. But writing about SEO and technical things in general, may be a great way to practise the language and support my professional life.
